Detox Day 1

Sunday, 08/11/2013 6:26 am 268.3 lbs 50.9% fat

Last night I went to bed at 10:12 PM and it took me 10 minutes to fall asleep.  I was awakened 8 times and slept for 7 hours 53 minutes with a pee break at 3:30 am.

7:15 am - just finished making a one day supply of the intestinal drink and drank the 3oz lemon and fiber drink.  Set the timer for 1 hour.  I am a little behind because the schedule says that I should have done this at 6am or so... but we will see how this works out.  I feel the drink in my eyes, kinda the way the 4 carrot-3 celery-2 apple breakfast drink that I like feels.  It would be nice to not smoke during these 10 days to be on the way to a 21-day break habit ideal, but nothing doing.  I think I'm scared of a healing reaction from stopping abruptly or maybe I'm just so addicted to them that I continue to tell myself any lie to keep puffing.  The drink tastes like hard lemonade.

Day 1 thru 10 do the schedule below.  On the morning of day 11 do colon hydrotherapy or coffee enema

Well, it's 8:20 am... time to make the nutritional drink.  Be back soon.

9:50 am
Made the drink.  It looks like coffee.  I have some coffee flavoring that I am toying with adding.  I put the drink in a Starbucks Frappuccino bottle just for fun and to make the shaking easier when the mixture settled.  I needed a few gulps of water to get down all the pills.   Took the adrenals and got on the rebounder for 10 minutes.  Set the timer for 1 hour.  I might have to change the times on my schedule.  We'll see.  Going to read.

10:56 am
Just drank 12 oz of water and took the charcoal.  I didn't get much reading done.  I mainly just lay on my back thinking about my thoughts. Set the timer for 1 hour.

12:22 pm
Sipping the remains of the intestinal drink after a tiny bm.  Enjoying the alluring scent of diffused lemon essential oil.  FitBit just awarded me the 50 lifetime miles badge - yay.  Set the timer for 1 hour.

1:04 pm
Turned the timer back to 45 minutes because though I should sip the 5 oz portion of the intestinal drink from 5-20 minutes... I think I took much longer than that so I am giving it a little more time before the next activity.  I've gotta get going here if I am to be in bed by 10:00 pm.

1:46 pm
Took a 10 minute nap.  The phone rang.  Drank 12 oz of water and made the nutritional drink and put it in the freezer.  Took adrenals.  Did 10 minutes of rebounding and downed the nutritional drink and supplements.

2:18 pm
Set timer for 1 hour. Next is after lunch stuffs. At least I am only 1 hour behind now.

3:25 pm
Drank 12 oz of water and took charcoal.  Set timer for 1 hour.  Feeling full and tired of "eating."

4:30 pm
Took a 7 minute nap. Sipping on intestinal drink.

5:26 pm
Drank 12 oz water.

6:58 pm
Nutritional drink is in the freezer.  Set timer for 10 minutes rebounding.

7:38 pm
Finished dinner.  Set timer for 1 hour.

9:19 pm
Finished the liver pack and sipping the last intestinal drink with castor oil.

9:41 pm
Finished all for the day.  Headed to watch a quick cooking video and go to bed.

Tahini Ranch Dip

Tahini Ranch Dip

1/2c raw sesame seeds
1/4c red bell pepper
1tbsp tahini
1/2 tsp dry dill
1/2c zucchini
2 garlic cloves
1/4c water
Juice of 1 lemon
salt & pepper to taste

Put everything in blender and blend 'til smooth.  Makes about 1 cup.

One cup of dip is a lot for one person so take some of it and stir-fry some cauliflower & EVOO and make a side of stir-fry spinach with onions and mushrooms and you've got a meal and likely only 1/4 cup dip left. The rest of the dip can likely be eaten the next day snacking on carrots, celery or the rest of the head of cauliflower.

Gut Feeling

The gut has 80% of my immune system.
GALT - gut associated lymphatic tissue
There is a brain around my gut is bigger and more active than the brain inside my skull.
90% of our serotonin which is the neurotransmitter associated with well being and happiness is produced in the gut of a healthy person.  Inflammation is mostly turned on in the immune system around the gut.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEWcGGyEhxs

A healthy human being has more bacteria (good bacteria) in their gut than cells in the rest of their body.  There are so many functions the intestinal flora actually perform; one of them is to function as a satellite liver.

40% of the toxins that we are exposed to are detoxified by the intestinal flora and if you kill them off
you'll be taxing your liver; and that can zap your energy.

There are nutrients that are made available only if they are pre-digested by the intestinal flora; a prime
example are the B vitamins; that's why fermented foods are so good for us.

Prebiotic shake (food for the good bacteria)
10 oz almond milk
1/2 cup blueberries
1 medium banana
1 handful of baby spinach
1 scoop plant-based protein powder
1 tsp apple cider vinegar

followed by a probiotic.

For the digestive tube:
Bad bacteria and yeast organize themselves into something called the biofilm.  The bacteria starts sticking
or melding together so to speak.  When the biofilm gets thick enough it prevents nutrients from getting
through into your intestine.  And if you have toxins, the toxins get stuck in it -- they get sequestered. Now, you've got toxic stuff held next to your gut, the nutrients can't get through there.  It's a perfect storm.

Berberine was recommend as one of the supplements that can dissolve the film.  400mg every afternoon.  Berberine has been used in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine; thousands of years old.

GALT - Gut associated lymphatic tissue which is basically speaking; your immune system.  80% of the immune system is around your intestines.  GALT is the most transitive border between the inside and the outside of your body.  The immune system is located there to make sure that nothing foreign gets into your blood.

The recommendation is to take L-Glutamine (1,000 mg) with the Berberine in the afternoon.  The intestinal wall protects the GALT from seeing what is inside the digestive tube; that's

1. good bacteria
2. bad bacteria
3. undigested food
4. parasites
5. yeast

When we have gaps in the cells of the intestinal wall creating a condition called hyperpermeability or (leaky gut); that is when the immune system goes into attack.  By promoting the growth of the cells and the re-covering of those gaps, you will calm down the immune system and save it from consuming all that energy that can be diverted for other things.

The last part of the 3 day cleanse as was on the Dr. Oz show is to jumpstart something Dr. Junger says a lot of people are calling the second brain. Around the intestines is a huge nervous system.  There are more neurons around the intestines (second brain) than are in the brain in your skull.  This is where 80-90% of the serotonin in your body is being manufactured along with many other neurotransmitters.  When the gut is dysfunctional; where there's hyperpermeability, disbiosis, biofilm, bad bacteria, parasites and other organisms, the GALT starts attacking all those things, and the nervous system in the gut participates in all of the adaptation and survival mechanisms and consumes a lot of other functions such as producing serotonin.  Without serotonin, you feel down which is why the second brain (the nerves around the intestines) are so important.  Before bed take 250 mg magnesium to stabilize the nervous system.  Magnesium is one of the things that we are most depleted of.  This will allow you to sleep better and stabilize your moods.

Colon Hydrotherapy Yeast

I saw the yellow yeast flakes and gas bubbles floating through the colonic machine tube.  I've seen the flaky stuff in the stool, but I thought it was lettuce.  I'll change the 300mg magnesium to bedtime and the armour thyroid to morning on an empty stomach.  I left the therapy and got a lemon filled Krispy Kreme donut, two peach pies and a big mac.  Sweet.  Literally.  Researching prebiotics to feed the probiotics I take every morning.

Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.  ~Albert Einstein

Me Myself and I

"Me is who you see.  I am who I see.  Myself is who I am."  ~lorrinda

...so who am I?  I am who I say I am.  Because you may see it, but if I don't then I may be ruled by who I see rather than myself (who I am).  I have a self and she belongs to me and her name is my.

Polly and the Guitar Player

We were at the Laugh Out Loud comedy club for the Project Access fundraiser and Polly mentioned that she was delivering her initial sermon. She has been in “boots on the ground” ministry for years, so this was just her latest assignment. I love her because “Pretty Polly” is authentically beautiful inside and out.

I spent a New Year’s eve with her and her husband counting piggy bank money and making merry. I have two happily divorces; our marriage didn’t ruin our friendship so Keith will always be my BFF and Mr. Michieka checks in between girlfriends and sings in the choir and plays guitar. Ernest and shug puddin’ were so cute together. I celebrated their commitment to each other. Just being around them made me warm inside.

Service at First Missionary Baptist Church started at 10:00 AM. Different. Like it. I arrived at 10:08 AM and some people were still outside; either transitioning from Sunday School or just arriving like me. After service, I found the website of the church “Where Love Makes the Difference.” First Lady Delectra referred to kingdom-building as a process – no wonder I felt at home. In fact, the banner in the church actually read, “Welcome Home!” I absolutely enjoyed the service and we were in and out in 2 hours flat. I will definitely will visit again, though I didn’t stand with the visitors. I never do.

When I was preparing to go, I made sure to take some information architecture work to help me through the rough spots. As the Granddaughter of a Pentecostal Pastor, Reverend Ella Langston Mitchell, I can feel like I have reached my lifetime maximum of hours in church, but this service was actually refreshing. I checked out of several portions of the service including the Parade of Benjamins (AKA march-around offering), the announcements, visitor recognition (AKA hug fest), the Veterans Parade, the greet the Minister Parade, etc. I managed to get the data types mapped for the database. Yay.

Polly was her sweet, authentic, informed and inspiring self and I reflecting on how proud I was to know such a powerhouse woman. Her message was “I’m a Witness and You Should Be a Witness Too.” --- or something like that. I heard all of what Polly is in that message, i.e., a sharecropper’s daughter born in a farmhouse near Princeton; a community advocate; a biblical and business scholar; a confident, witty, and sexy soul sister; a truth defender; a confidant and friend; a dedicated mother, wife and Granny; and a servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is something like 60 years old with the body and brains of a 30 year old. You go girl. She has the discipline and grace that I hope to have if I ever grow up.

We sang Hymn #644 “Count Your Blessings.” The verses got lost somewhere in the mumbling of a mostly older congregation that seemed to desperately need their reading glasses. I asked the guy next to me, “Are they singing this song?” as I pointed to the page trying to sing it from my lips like I heard it in my head from back in the day at Holly Street Holiness Church in Goldsboro, NC. He said, “Yep, that’s it.” I thought, “Nope. Not really.” I checked out and sat down. The Saints were still painfully working their way through the four verses when I turned on hotspot, flipped out the stylus and ipad, launched the HootSuite app; and simultaneously tweeted (@lorrindam) and FaceBook posted, “Count your blessings; name them one by one.”

I checked in at one point and found Polly bouncing in the choir singing, “I Am Souled Out!” Gospel music must be in her DNA and I expect she just couldn’t help herself. My favorite part of Hezekiah Walker’s “Souled Out” is at 2 minutes 24 seconds: “My heart is fixed, my mind’s made up. No room, no vacancies - I’m all filled up. His spirit lives in me and that’s the reason I’m souled out!”

The guitar is my favorite instrument. My Grandpa Deacon Hezzie Lee Mitchell who is 96 still hauls the guitar and duct taped amplifier to church at Saint Delight Holy Church. During the announcements is when I first noticed that the guitar player was wooing me. I watched him a good bit during the service and he didn’t fall asleep like Grandpa does. Sister Della told us about the upcoming events and the food drive and introduced us to Little Miss Black USA – or something like that. Surely that little girl will be a profound leader one day. She commanded the microphone wearing her tiara and pixie braids. The guitarist wore an unpretentious grey, long-sleeved sweatshirt amongst seemingly tediously fashioned ladies in hats and frocks. He mastered the strings stirring a praise in me that would not let me check out during one of my least favorite parts. I expected the music to be loud and painful. I remember thinking that I should have taken some pre-headache medicine to be able to recover quickly from the experience, but the music at “First Church” was meaningful, soothing, reverent, harmonious and beautiful.

In one part where the Senior Servant (AKA Pastor) asked us to rest on our feet, I decided that if I had to be standing up, I might as well get a light jog going to try and relieve the something like sciatica pain in my left buttock. A lady across the aisle in the blue suit and slightly more permed hair than my mini-fro, had her hands up and hankie waving; gyrating even more than I was, so I assumed nobody would even notice me. We were resting on our feet again when the guitar, the voices, and the lyrics touched me and I found my face twisted in an ugly cry deep in worship. I can’t remember exactly what was happening during the service when I was having this wonderful moment, but I remember it started when we were all standing. I cracked one very wet eye and everybody was sitting back down! --I was alone, standing, crying, holding my red sweater on my sleeveless shoulders with one hand with the other raised high in the air. I thought, “What are they doing? Don’t care… this feels good so I’m staying until the guitar stops.” We were singing Kirk Franklin’s, “Oh, I know that I can make it, I know that I can stand. No matter what may come my way, my life is in your hands.”

It was over. I dried my face with my bare hands. I said to the lady next to me, “I’m glad I didn’t wear any make-up.” She said, “I know what you mean. It was already hot when we first came in. I don’t think the air conditioning is on.” Hmmm… that wasn’t exactly the experience that I was having so I smiled politely and went back to work.

When I checked in again, I think Polly was getting gifts and the “you’re legit proclamation.” We were invited to come shake her hand. You guessed it. Time to check out. But instead, while everyone was hugging and wishing Polly well, I made my way to the guitar player where I learned that he played there every Sunday! I told him that his talent was amazing and checked out and went home; thankful to God, to First Church, to Polly and the guitar player.
